About Prakruti Farms — Family-Owned Organic Farm, Bangalore
Welcome to Prakruti Farms, a cherished family-owned organic and natural permaculture farm nestled in the outskirts of Bangalore. Founded by Raja Varun and his wife Nethra, who are also the visionaries behind Startdesi Products, featuring two beloved brands: Forgotten Foods and Plesantre.
At Prakruti Farms, our journey is deeply rooted in a passion for sustainable farming practices and a commitment to preserving the purity of nature. Inspired by Raja Varun's father, Mr.R.V.Bhaskar, whose farming hobby blossomed into a lifelong passion, we strive to carry forward his legacy of reverence for the land.
"Prakruti" means nature in Sanskrit, and that name guides every decision we make on the farm.
At Prakruti Farms, we practice regenerative organic farming — an approach that goes beyond simply avoiding chemicals. We actively work to restore soil health, increase biodiversity, conserve water, and build a thriving ecosystem that sustains itself naturally.
Our farm is more than just a business; it's a labor of love, a sanctuary where we cultivate organic produce, nurture biodiversity, and foster a connection with the Earth.
What is Regenerative Farming?
Regenerative farming is a philosophy of giving back to the earth more than we take. It includes:
-
No synthetic chemicals or pesticides — ever. Our crops grow in harmony with nature.
-
Composting and natural soil enrichment — we feed the soil so the soil feeds the plant.
-
Crop diversity and food forests — growing many varieties together mimics natural ecosystems and builds resilience.
-
Water conservation — traditional and modern techniques to use water wisely.
-
Seed saving — preserving heirloom and ancient varieties that have been lost to industrial agriculture.
Over the past 15 years, we have meticulously designed and cultivated a vibrant permaculture 7-layered tropical food forest that mirrors the natural ecosystems found in tropical regions. This vibrant landscape includes an array of fruit-bearing trees, timber species, aromatic plants, flowering species, herbs, medicinal plants, as well as roots and tubers, all harmoniously coexisting as they would in a tropical forest. Our farm is also home to a variety of animals, including desi cows, chicken, sheep, cats and dogs, each playing a vital role in our integrated farming system.
Several areas of the farm are dedicated to chikoo and coconut orchards, while others are spread out with lush beetle nut plantations. We adhere to sustainable farming practices, such as creating natural fertilizer, Jeevamrut, which is made using cow dung and urine, enriching the soil and promoting healthy plant growth.
Our farm is also home to a thriving apiary, where we harvest pure and natural honey from numerous bee boxes. This unadulterated honey is available for purchase during your visit or through our online store.
Additionally, our farm is a sanctuary for various animals, including domesticated desi cows, sheep, chicken, cats and dogs. Guests are welcome to feed and interact with these animals, making for delightful photo opportunities and memorable experiences during your staycation at Prakruti Farms.
Our natural farm can also be used as a photoshoot location since it is not far from Bangalore city. You could plan pre-wedding shoots, maternity & baby photoshoots, family portraits, brand content, etc in our outdoor landscaped areas.

Discover our homegrown brands: FORGOTTEN FOODS & PLESANTRE
Our vision is to make a positive impact on the world by promoting healthier food choices that have been forgotten or overlooked over time. We have created 2 food brands to bring these forgotten foods to the mainstream market. We believe that by introducing these ancient foods to the market, we not only provide a healthier option but also offer a deeper connection to our cultural heritage. Moreover, all our products are clean label, no preservatives and chemicals are used in the making. You can trust that every product embodies our unwavering commitment to sustainability and excellence.
Why Forgotten Foods?
India's culinary heritage is rich with grains, millets, and foods that nourished generations — but were sidelined by the Green Revolution. We are on a mission to bring these forgotten foods back to Indian kitchens, not just for their incredible nutrition, but because growing them the traditional way is better for the planet.
Ancient grains like millets are naturally drought-resistant, require far less water than rice or wheat, and thrive without chemical inputs. Choosing them is a vote for a more sustainable food system.
